Having Trouble Re-Claiming your Google Maps Account?

This topic is discussed on a regular basis, business owners search for their business in maps, locate it, and when they go to claim it realize that it has already been ‘Owner-verified’. Has this ever happened to you? There’s a way to re-claim your business as the rightful owner. Firstly, you’ll need to be signed in to your nominated Google Account. Once you’ve signed in, search for your business name using Google Maps. When you find your listing, click on the ‘more information’/’review’ hyperlink. From here you’ll be redirected to your Google Place page. If your page has been owner verified, click on the hyperlink that says “Owner-Verified listing”.

This is where people get confused. They click on the ‘owner-verified’ link and it brings them to the following stage that prompts users to “add new business”. It’s a pretty poor call-to-action on Google’s behalf if they’re redirecting you to this page – but click on the link and see where it takes you.

It will prompt you to fill out all of the information about your company – again. Once you complete this process, you’ll finally get to where you want to be. Selecting the listing that has already been owner-verified, and starting the reconfirmation process all over again. Be sure to be certain that the listing you are claiming is the one in question. As seen here, we have a duplicate listing for Websalad. As both are owner-verified already, we want to reclaim the first listing because this has our current contact details:

And that’s all there is to it. Prompt the Google voice call to your designated landline and then enter the pin number that they give you. Want more information on Google Maps? Visit our local search optimisation page for more articles.
