Entoure Website – Phase Two
The design of the Entoure site is coming along well, and the client is happy with our progress and commitment so far. We have encountered a few issues with the use of BuddyPress and we have also encountered some major changes to the original scoping document. We have pushed back the launch of the website 10 days, because we have had to hand-code some of the elements of BuddyPress in order to get it working correctly. Some of the functionality has been a little bit buggy with integration into the site, primarily because we’ve had some of the BuddyPress components custom-made to suit the client’s needs.
Again, this is something we’ve never done before, but we’re excited to try it out and actually get it working! The custom components we’re adding to BuddyPress include the registration process, something which BuddyPress currently doesn’t support in its beta phase, as well as the Donation engine that we have built.
There were changes made to the initial scope: we had to restructure the entire registration process, dump it and start again. This is because we had to drop a payment gateway in and provide six options for registration because there were different types of registrants for the event: individual riders registering for 1 event with multiple options: 1 day event, 2 day event and 3 day event, there were sponsored riders already paid for by their company so they got in for free, corporate sponsors – company entrants, road crew – camera men, props etc.
It’s a pretty heavy duty task, and a lot of work, but we’re as determined as ever to get things up and running as smoothly and as perfectly as possible!
