Blogs beat emails
-What is it about Blogs that makes them so effective?
A recent article in The Australian proclaimed that ‘Blogs beat emails’ as a form of internal communication within a company.
But are they also a better alternative for general communication with clients and potential clients? You betcha. Heres why:
- They are faster. This is because you write your post and put it in its relevant category, and those who want to read it will. There are no endless cc lists
- For the same reasons as above, they are faster
- People will feel less annoyed because they are not being interrupted, and can read the post when they want, and can choose whether it is relevant to them
- Readers will feel they can respond and create a relationship with you, and less like they are just a name on a list
- Email was never meant for large-scale communication. Blogs are.
- Unlike email, Blogs are not vulnerable to spam filters
- They can be created and modified to suit your company as it grows and changes
- They are increasingly popular; more and more customers are looking for relevant Blogs to subscribe to or read regularly
- The market is changing: customers are increasingly expecting to dialogue with the companies they deal with
- The information in Blogs potentially increases in value to the reader over time, unlike emails, which are deleted as soon as they are read, or even before
Blogs are an easy and effective communication tool. They are particularly good for communicating to large audience, and for developing dialogue and relationships with clients.
