Mobile Search Statistics: July Commentary
Over the past 4 months we’ve witnessed a continuing increase in the percentage share of site visits from traffic operating on mobile devices.
To give you a deepened insight into the share percentages, we’ve decided to include a data table from which our averages are derived.
Each client has been labeled with their respective business niche – as to maintain confidentiality, of course! But what’s interesting to see, though, are the trends beginning to emerge from the various business niches with respect to the nature of their target audience.
Check out the table below – % of mobile visits has been calculated by taking stats from 3 major mobile devices: Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Blackberry:
One thing that stands out to us is the consistent performance across the retail sector, indicating a steady growth over the past 3 months to coincide with the release of the Apple iPad and iPhone 4 devices.
This indicates that as the technology market continues to populate the industry with newer devices, more and more people are embracing smart phones. We can only predict that the retail industry will continue to increase its percentage of site visits via mobile devices over the up and coming months!
The increase in smart phone use however, is still prevalent throughout all business niches.
As users continue the trends of searching for products or services on the go, we predict to see a consistent growth throughout all niches with the exclusion of B2B.
The logic behind the B2B observation lies in what we assume to be users minimising their smart phone use for searches during work hours and instead making use of the internet available during work hours.
Stay tuned, there will be more updates over the next few weeks!
