Search Engine Optimisation: five things you can do
Many people want a quick fix to get their website to the top of Google. While we must stress that a proper Search Engine Optimisation service is by far your best bet, there are some simple things you can do to help search engine crawlers index your site properly, which will probably improve your rankings:
- Use text links instead of flash
- Use a good, descriptive yet simple URL, avoiding too many hyphens
- Have a site map with a (text) link from the home page.
- Don’t restrict access to your site: search engines do not fill in forms
- Continually update your content
Remember, Search Engine Optimisation is a continually evolving art. And it’s even more complicated than it used to be, because search engines are getting smarter. To make it really work, you also need incoming links and an increased web presence.
