Page Rank is the rank that every page is given by Google when performing it’s search calculations. Named after Larry Page who invented it alongside co-founder of Google Sergey Brin in the late 1990s, the aim of page rank is to return higher quality results but calculating the relevance and importance of a page, page rank has since allowed Google to determine the relevance of a page to your search and returned the best results to you. The purpose of page of Page Rank is return results that are relevant to the search enquiry by the user, all pages start with a form of Page Rank, generally between 0 and 1, the process of increasing your Page Rank can be a difficult task however. Page Rank can be measured in 2 ways, there is ‘Real Page Rank’ and the Page Rank shown by a toolbar addon to some browsers, Page Rank can be increased by building links to your site and including key words, however if your site isn’t relevant to the search enquiry then it isn’t likely to show up. Also stacking keywords on your homepage doesn’t mean that it is more likely to show up in a Google set of ‘Search Results’, getting more people linking to your homepage is a better way of increasing your odds of showing up.
