A page’s meta description gives Google and other search engine giants a clear indication of what your page is all about. While a page’s meta title may be a simple phrase comprising of a few words, the description tags can be made up of a few keyword specific sentences or paragraphs. The importance of the description tags is evident in Google search results. For example, a Google search for the keyword ‘Websalad’ reveals the following meta description underneath the first search result: “Australia’s SEO specialist in Online Reputation Management, Web Marketing & Taguchi Multivariate Conversion Testing.” A keyword relevant meta description is paramount for tailoring your company website to desired keywords. Some tips for writing meta descriptions: Accurately summarize the page’s content and most importantly use unique descriptions for each page on your website.
