Blogging and PR: Partners Online
Have you ever thought about using business blogging to compliment your PR campaign? A blog can do virtually anything you want it to do these days, though there are some rules to follow for it to be successful.
Alarm bells going off? One of those rules you may have heard is not to let the PR department write the blog. A business blog needs to be honest and informative, and free from sales talk and glossy public relations speeches. This is true.
It doesn’t mean, however, that your blog can’t compliment your PR campaign, with a follow-up of your press release in your blog. Just remember to keep the language more personal and engaging for the readers.
You could use your blog to show the informal story behind your PR campaign, and to find out what people think of it through inviting comments.
One of the main goals of PR is to make your company seem more credible in the public eye (especially if its image has recently suffered). Business blogs generally have that same goal – just a slightly different methodology.
Be creative, and use your blog in any way that could be useful for your company. It’s a great tool for communication and marketing – as long as the marketing side isn’t all it’s about.
